My ticket to DrupalCon DC 2009 is up for sale

They denied me visa for entry to US for a lame reason of not having sufficient ties with my country India, as they think a person attending a tech talk could possibly slip away in the US. They think so because I spoke everything truth unlike an unskilled person who would lie and put dust in Consular Officer's eyes.

I have no suggestions to them for improving, that's what happens everywhere. !@#$%^&*

My ticket's up for sale at eBay: Sold, thank you all for the interest!

Sad to hear you got the

Sad to hear you got the rough end of the roll of the dice. Consular officers are like that everywhere. When I went, legitimate applicants (I counted 4 or 5 within a hour) from India's top I.T companies were turned down and sent back within a minute.

Good luck with your ticket sale.

That so sucks!

Funny thing is, my wife is in India until the 7th. Maybe they could let you come here on a quid-pro-quo.

Would it help if people wrote letters or made calls. I would be happy to call my congressperson.

Resubmit

The Visa and consulate office can be extremely difficult although I haven't personally gone through the process I have helped many other people go through the process (I'm an American). Often times it seems to be based on the mood of the Visa agent reviewing your paperwork or interviewing you. If you can I would resubmit as in my experience it has taken 2 or 3 attempts to get a Visa.

Credits to whom they are necessary

Cary Gordon, Jacob Redding, Jacob Singh and the Drupal Association have been extremely supportive in the quest to request an expedited appointment from the embassy, as an appeal and then to appear in front of the Consular with a fully loaded .12 bore document folder. Ha Ha lol

Thank you guys, see you at the next DrupalCon! Wink

Why eBay and not the offical trading list?

I'm not sure why you're having to sell this on eBay and pimp this on the Drupal Planet when there is an official waiting/trading list at http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/news/drupalcon-dc-ticket-exchange-and-de-fac... There are several people who have been waiting a while and already have plane tickets but were not able to get a DrupalCon ticket before they sold out.

I'm sure whoever you traded your ticket to would be more than happy to pay you the full amount of the ticket if you talked with them. This just does not seem like an appropriate way to sell your ticket, it seems too much like scalping.

Pardon me

I bought it and have the freedom to sell it wherever. And it's in an auction so that I can cover up with the "part of" the fees I had to pay. A very ethical right of mine.

The official trading post was created for a "few" expected trades, however, that thread continued to grow due to huge demand and finally organizers had to set up a full new forum for it. And I _did_ post it over there.

It is again my right to post it on my blog and then to the Drupal Planet, to let an interested person have a chance.

Did you mention you were Google SoC participant?

Did you mention you were Google SoC participant? I would think that would had helped to emphasize the legitimacy of your reasons of the travel.

Noes....

Barely was given a chance to think. It was an unimaginable situation; how easily he said, "I'm sorry". Sad

Oh man ...

That sucks and it is the reason why I even don´t try to get to USA! As a non USA citizen it is nowadays very hard and combined with much paperwork to get to USA. I have the luck to spare USA and till now I don´t miss them Wink

Yes the visa can be a little

Yes the visa can be a little painful. But you can show Assets back in India (in cash , other forms eg: FD) + Property papers to make your case more better. Also you could have shown that you are a Student in you College (a letter from your Dean/Registrar) Or when you work that you are employed. And that you are still pursuing your Engg. & will come back and complete it.It's Not exactly putting dust in others eye BUT the visa officers see scores of People per day. They have just about 5 min / person. You have be more prepared + put more information up than asked.

Sorry about the email I'd sent earlier didn't realize you'd not be interested in Freelancing !

ps: But the offer is still on the table

It is very sad to hear that

It is very sad to hear that your visa is denied! Travel information can be searched in some of the website.
